As one of the pioneers in the cruise industry, Norwegian has done a lot of things differently. It pioneered many firsts: the first out island in the Bahamas, a combined air-sea program with “Cloud 9 Cruises,” and the combination of low-cost airfares with cruises. Additionally, Norwegian has opened up new ports in the Caribbean, such as Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
Norwegian launches first cruise line NFT series
The new NFT series from the Norwegian Cruise Line features six artworks, one for each ship in the new Prima Class. These pieces will be available for auction in April with the first piece selling for US$2,500 and the winning bidder will get a free balcony stateroom on the Norwegian Prima. The collection will also feature pieces by Manuel Di Rita, who has designed the ship’s hull art. In addition to the art pieces on sale, the cruise line has also partnered with the artist Manuel Di Rita, known as “Peeta.”
The art pieces are created by Manuel Di Rita, better known as Peeta. He previously designed the hull art for two NCL ships. Now, Peeta has created artwork for NCL highlighting the ship’s hull. His creations are available for sale on the Norwegian Cruise Line website, which includes six pieces of artwork. The art is also sold at auction with all proceeds going to the U.S. charity Teach for America.
A new auction website for the new NFT series is being launched by the Norwegian Cruise Line. The first six pieces will be auctioned off for $2,500 each, with the remaining NFTs going on reserve. The auction will include exclusive perks for Continuum holders, including access to expanding content and new features. The winning bidder will also receive a balcony stateroom on the Norwegian Prima’s inaugural voyage to the U.S.
NCL will begin with an auction of six pieces
To celebrate its new upscale product line, Norwegian Cruise Line will auction six unique artworks as “NFTs,” or “non-fungible tokens.” Each piece has an NFT value that is determined by identification codes, and the authenticity of each piece is verified by Blockchain technology. Manuel Di Rita is the artist behind the hull art on NCL’s new Prima class vessels. The first piece will sell for $2,500, while the rest of the pieces will go for $250 upwards.
Several new ships will be launched in the near future. These ships will feature two-story indoor spa waterfalls, a marble spiral staircase, relaxation areas, and a Pulse Fitness Centre with 270-degree ocean views. This is the first fitness center to be built into a cruise ship and will be an important feature for many passengers. NCL has also announced the launch of two new ships, Norwegian Spirit and Norwegian Sun.
