A new collaboration between clothing retailer Gap and streetwear star Dapper Dan makes his NFT debut. After previously collaborating with the retailer twice, the streetwear star has now teamed up with the renowned clothing label again for a limited-edition NFTs collection. Gap tapping into the Metaverse scene
The Gap is venturing into the metaverse by launching a limited-edition NFTs collaboration with Harlem-based designer Dapper Dan. The collaboration has two distinct elements: a varsity jacket designed especially for the NFT experience and a digital offering with gamified levels. The brand is also using energy-efficient practices to run its network, ensuring a low carbon footprint.
The collaboration begins with a 48-hour digital auction featuring Dapper Dan’s digital art, a special edition physical varsity jacket, and more. This auction will launch on April 2, which happens to be the first day of the inaugural annual fundraiser of the Fifteen Percent Pledge in New York City. The money raised by the auction will benefit the charity and the nonprofit organization Fifteen Percent Pledge, which aims to empower African-American men and women in the fashion industry.
Earlier this month, Dapper Dan collaborated with GAP on hoodies. The first drop of Dapper Dan x GAP hoodies retailed for $98 USD and were sold out quickly. However, if you can’t wait that long, you can still get one of the limited-edition NFTs by pre-ordering them at Gap’s online store.
Gap first NFT campaign
After a successful auction, Gap rolled out a new structure for its limited-edition NFTs with Daper Dan. Customers can buy the Common NFT for two tez on April 5 and can purchase a Rare NFT by spending 10 tez. The Epic NFT, which costs three hundred tez, will only be available to customers who purchase four or more Common NFTs. One of a Kind NFTs have already been sold in the auction.
The digital auction kicks off with a 48-hour digital auction, featuring digital artwork created by Dapper Dan and a special-edition physical DAP GAP varsity jacket signed by the designer. The auction is timed to coincide with the Fifteen Percent Pledge annual benefit in New York. Auction proceeds will benefit the Philanthropic Ventures Foundation. This limited-edition NFTs will feature a three-level approach: common, rare and epic.
Despite the hype surrounding the limited-edition NFTs, it’s not hard to see why the Gap collaboration is so popular. In the recent past, the brand has collaborated with the artist twice, once for a special edition, and once again for an all-new hoodie collection. With the collaboration, the company is hoping to expand the presence of the DAP GAP hoodie to new levels.
